SFCM Wind Ensemble Concert
Updated: 6 days ago
I'm rarely great at getting the word out about upcoming concerts, but I really want to share this fantastic (and FREE!) San Francisco Conservatory of Music Wind Ensemble concert, featuring several of my favorite compositions written within the last 10-15 years. The group is already sounding fantastic! Band directors, tell your students!
These pieces explore the ways we find the extraordinary in the world around us, from the cycles of nature and the search for home to the energy of movement and the beauty of visual art. For Adam Schoenberg's Picture Studies, we'll even be projecting the original artworks that inspired the music!
Friday, October 23 2026, 7:30 PM, Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall, 50 Oak Street, San Francisco.
Program: Caroline Shaw – and the swallow (arr. Danielle Fisher); Viet Cuong – Deciduous (H Grace Wahlen, conductor); Carl Reinecke – Concerto in D Major for Flute and Wind Band (Wanruo Zhang, flute);
— Intermission —
Adam Schoenberg – Picture Studies (arr. Don Patterson); Anna Meredith – Nautilus (arr. Andrew Trachsel).
Absolutely best experienced in person (really, really, though!), but it'll also be livestreamed for those out of town. Info and links for free ticket reservations and the livestream:
