Brad Hogarth - Conductor, Educator, Arranger

Brad has over fifteen years of private and group trumpet teaching experience ranging from ages 4 - 65. Brad's educational philosophy involves creating a positive learning environment while teaching music as a language with a strong emphasis on ear training and fundamentals. He currently teaches privately in San Francisco. Email for more info. 
​Brad has both a New York State and California professional certification in Music Education for grades K-12. He went through the Texas public school system and was lucky to be extremely active in the arts. His experience in schools includes elementary general education, beginning instrumental, as well as running and coaching middle and high school band programs. Brad is proficient in teaching all standard wind instruments and in many of the standard teaching methods.The majority of his professional teaching experience is teaching the 'Jump Right In' method. Brad is the Associate Professor of Wind Ensemble and Conducting at San Francisco State University as well as the music director and conductor of the Contra Costa Wind Symphony

For three year prior, he was the director of Bands, Full Orchestra and Chair of Instrumental Music  at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the arts. He conducted the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts Orchestra at the Other Minds Music Festival in San Francisco, the first time a student group has been asked to perform. 

His conducting teachers at Eastman were Mark Davis Scatterday and Brad Lubman. Outside of Ruth Asawa SOTA, Brad recently conducted the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Brass Ensemble at the opening game for the Golden State Warriors. In 2008, Brad participated in the Music Educators National Conference (now called NAfME, the National Association for Music Education) Masterclass with Dr. Scatterday, hosted by The Eastman School of Music. In addition he has conducted elementary and high school jazz bands, intermediate and high school wind ensembles. 
Brad's arranging experience dates back to high school, both arranging and transcribing back up band music for rock and pop shows. Since then he has been hired to arrange songs for weddings, concert and marching bands, brass quintets, trumpet ensembles and rock bands.
